About Sandra Forney

Sumptuous cuisine impeccably served in an ambiance of warm hospitality- that’s the specialty at Impressions Gourmet Catering.  Founded in 1983 by owner Sandra Forney, the full service catering company is unsurpassed in quality, creativity and expertise

Sandra has been in the food business since she was eight years old when she helped her parents, who operated a successful resort in the San Jacinto Mountains.  She has most definitely learned the business from the ground up.

During her college years, Sandra managed the Gaslight Broiler in Newport Beach, California, handling their cash audits and control, personnel administration, product procurement and scheduling while also waiting tables and serving as hostess.  After graduation, she worked for Taco Bell Corporation at their corporate offices in Irvine where she managed accounts payable, receivables and payroll for 24 separate corporate restaurant units.

In 1978, Sandra took a position with Park Avenue Catering in Orange where she managed and directed the organization’s restaurants, gourmet catering service and outdoor recreational facility.  Her work encompassed all aspects of the business. Her desire to retain authenticity in the preparation of international cuisine lead her on a quest throughout Europe, Scandinavia, the Eastern Block countries, Central America, South America, Mexico, the Hawaiian Islands, Asia, the Caribbean, Indonesia, and Africa.  With such an extensive grounding, it was only logical that Sandra put her years of experience to work for her own advantage and thus, Impressions Gourmet Catering was born.

In 1983 Sandra successfully established a full service catering company by effectively utilizing all skills and knowledge acquired from previously held positions.  Secured a 4,000 square foot facility for the business.  Worked initially and on an on going basis in conjunction with all local, county and state government agencies to obtain and maintain the necessary permits and licenses.  Acted as general contractor in employing all electrical, building and designing engineers to develop and construct the kitchen, warehouses and offices to the required specifications.  Generated the business, marketing and advertising plans to launch the business.  Structured all menu plans based on competitive pricing, cost efficient purchasing and consistent quality.  Appointed qualified, resourceful personnel.  Aggressively sought and secured business in the private, corporate and institutional sectors for functions ranging in size from 2 to 7,000 guests.  Actively support all established and incoming personnel in continual growth of the organization.  Continually endorses community-related organizations and functions.

In 1992 Impressions entered into an exclusive agreement with the Pierre Biane Winery in Rancho Cucamonga to provide Catering for what was at one time the retail store located inside the grounds of the winery.  The “Wine Store” had never been utilized for the purpose of banquets.  Therefore it was a start up operation and an exciting new venture for Impressions Catering.  Impressions purchased tables, chairs and a dance floor, proving a complete package for their customers.  Lattice panels for the walls, grapevine garland and ficus trees draped with Tivoli lights were added to give warmth and charm.  A marketing program was established to promote the Wine Store as a picturesque, historical banquet facility, perfect for every special event!  Today, the Wine Store is considered to be one of the finest historical banquet facilities in the Inland Empire.

In April of 2000 Impressions Catering entered into an agreement with the City of Upland to provide exclusive service for the Andrew Carnegie Cultural Center.  The elegant 1913 style interior provides a beautiful venue for Wedding Receptions, Fundraisers, Cocktail and Dinner Parties.  The outside hosts a lovely garden area especially designed for Wedding Ceremonies, Teas and Brunches.  A marketing program was also developed for this unique venue, targeting not only private catering but also heavy emphasis on corporate catering.  The Carnegie comes equipped with automatic overhead screen, PA system, podium and internet hook-ups, making this a unique facility perfect for any special event and ideal for meetings, conferences, seminars and training sessions!

In May 2006 Impressions entered into an agreement with the City of Rancho Cucamonga to provide exclusive service for Celebration Hall located at the Victoria Gardens Cultural Center. This beautiful, state of the art facility will accommodate 300 guests and is a perfect venue for Weddings, Fundraisers, Seminars, Cocktail Receptions and Dinner Parties.

Today Impressions Gourmet Catering is recognized in the surrounding communities as a professional, well-established and reliable thriving business.  Impressions takes pride in consistency of pricing, quality and service.  The office is open 5 days a week and the kitchen 7 days.  Impressions has provided quality catering for events as small as a gourmet dinner for 2 to a picnic for 7,586.  Impressions employs corporate account specialists and special event planners to assist in every detail.
